With the help of entrepreneurs, the factory system was set up transitioning goods from being made at home to the factory.  The production of goods was done on a grand scale with the use of machines.  Above are factories from the Industrial Revolution, in the discussion board below, state what you think you would see once inside.

Above, are statistics of one mill during the Industrial Revolution.  Think to yourself, why would someone say these statistics are shocking?  Write your thoughts on a sheet of paper.  Be prepared to discuss your thoughts in class.

 

Child Labor

 

Worker exploitation was common during the Industrial Revolution.  Just as the statistics above show, children were the largest working group in many factories.  Children represented cheap labor, often being paid little to nothing at all.  Below, are accounts from factory workers and doctors who examined factory workers during the Industrial Revolution.  Read all of the accounts and complete the worksheet below.
